My mate and I were having a chat today after doing (Keyhaven/Pennington) in the pub.And were discussing what we have seen from pub gardens this year,(both being smokers). And we were quite surprised as I live Christchurch Dorset we have done pretty well
The Ship Xchurch.Firecrest Peregrine
The George Xchurch. In one hour peregrine hobby buzzard honey buzzard sparrow hawk kestrel (and White Stork on another day)
The Thomas Tripp.Firecrest
The Haven.Osprey(plus loads more it over looks the harbour)
The Alice Lisle Blashford. After two years of me dipping(not trying to hard mind) Great White Egret.
There was loads of other usual fare as well just picked out the high lights.

PS. We were not there from opening time

Give up smoking Darren, you will see many more birds (because you will live longer!)

I had my first fag at eight years old (a Woodbine) but gave up six years ago (28th Nov 2002) and have not regretted it one bit.

Ditto to Colin - you'll also see more without those thick roiling clouds of toxic black pollution obscuring your views of the birds

Not a bad list Darren! I wonder how honest would you need to be about how many pints consumed when submitting a rarity description eg how confident can you be about a flyover Black Kite after say 3 pints?

Seems to be that the BBRC make alot of their desscions in the pub anyway,It may help your case.Brown Flycatcher probably made on the British list on a warm summer evening in late June."Oh look there's one".

The great outdoors has room for all, smoke outside and look for birds. On the other hand, in the drizzle of November, I often sit in the car.
