Hi folks

The website www.pittasworld.com has just been launched to chronicle Chris Goodies' search for all the pitta species of the world next year. It promises to be an epic adventure and there's going to be a blog detailing the trials and tribulations along the way.

They're simply awesome birds and anyone who's managed to see a Banded Pitta shining out from a dark forest interior will share Chris's passion for these birds. (check the first painting here: http://www.pittasworld.com/Site/Pitta_Art.html)

The website looks like it will also feature audio and video captured along the way. Sounds like a fantastic idea but I can't help thinking there's going to be very stressful and nerve-wracking times trying to see some of the more skulky members of the family. :realmad:

Nice site. I wonder if he's going to try for all 22 forms of Red-bellied, for insurance purposes...? I'm hoping at least half of them will be split in due course, and bring some much-needed conservation attention to the islands they inhabit...

Site looks promising. I'm looking forward to more from there.

Hi

Chris' trip is going well judging by his blog with some cracking pittas seen such as the bornean form of Banded and one that everyone wants, Giant. Chris had to wait 20 years before he finally caught up with Giant so I guess he's very happy!

The website now has photos and a blog and is well worth following
