Hi All
This post is not one of my usual "What in the World?' games. I am genuinely confused by my this bird. I’m sure it must be a Tropical Mockingbird, but it looked different enough to cause me to wonder and ask questions. I'm in St Lucia, West Indies and have seen and heard T. Mockingbirds often. This one sounded like a Mockingbird, but it had a yellow throat and dark breast. I didn't see any yellow flowered trees in the area I was (Pigeon Island Park), but maybe it picked up color elsewhere? (But why is it not on the chin?)I will post a photo of one of the 'normal' T. Mockingbirds I've seen and then post some of the bird in question. Does anyone have some insight for me?
The last one is very blurry, but I include it because the bill was hidden in the first shot. I took the one showing his back as an after-thought at quite a distance.
Thanks,
Sue

Am I wrong about it being a Mockingbird? If so, can anyone tell me what it is?
Thanks, Sue

It is a mockingbird. Can't say how the bird got those breast colours but it does look like a mockingbird to me too.

Thanks, Motmot. I'm kinda kicking myself now for now getting more shots. As I walked up to it, it was singing away in typical, changing Mockingbird style. There were two people standing under the tree and as I walked up the slope toward them I made a comment about it sounding like a Tropical Mickingbird. They were trying to locate it and I pointed it out to them when I reached them. I got it in my bins and thought, "What is that yellow?" I snapped off some photos because I thought maybe I had not memorized the field guide well enough and it might be something else. A cuckoo of some kind even entered my mind for a brief second. After going through my book, and my Panama book, I was still convinced it had to be a mockingbird, but I wanted to talk to someone more experienced about it.
