Hello, I took this photograph accidentally in a general scene of the coast at Whitley Bay. Unfortunately the image is very small as I didn't see it at the time, otherwise I would have zoomed in a bit closer. At first glance I thought it was the usual seagull but on closer inspection it appears to be some sort of bird of prey but it is difficult to tell how large it is. Any help would be appreciated.

Boy do I feel stupid!
Now that you point it out, it's obvious.

I wouldn't feel too stupid if I were you, I have seen Peregrines and Black-winged Kites suddenly transform into "pidjuns".

Hi Ig,
Sometimes the raptors themselves are confused! I can't seem to find a photo I have of a dark Eleanora's Falcon flying with a flock of pigeons. I wondered if the poor thing was suffering from an identity crisis since he didn't look like all the other Eleanora's.;) I guess I lost that photo when my last computer crashed. I have all the Naxos, Greece photos except THAT day! I will post what might be the same bird; it was on the other side of Naxos, so I don't know. Looks a bit pigeony at first glance to me.

Found the 'Falcon amongst the Pigeons' photo. Naxos, Greece. I love this!
