This bird may have been around for a while (several have been wintering in the UK this year).
Can I ask. Why are you starting threads for all these sightings - most of which have been around from some time (i.e King Eiders in Ireland)

The downturning economy has suddenly made my days free, so thought I'd share daily rarity news from my various subscriptions, as there may be some birders who can't afford to subscribe to Birdguides, RBA, Birdcall etc. Maybe they'd appreciate knowing what's around each day even if they are continuing rarities. As this forum is relatively new, it looked like it could do with some posts in this section.
Maybe I'll do summaries instead of creating new threads each time.

Nice idea, though it may possibly be a breach of copyright of the various subscription services. Not really sure what the law is on redistribution of their information.

Not a problem
Pager companies often use second or third-hand information. Once information is 'out' it is fair game. It's well-known that they monitor several other news outlets/blogs/fora themsleves and will report from those

I would suggest, if you continue with this, that maybe one pint of Guinness is enough, lay off the bold type (i.e. stop "shouting"), and pay more attention to your abbreviations - I though that you were referring to a melanistic Garganey.

I thought it was a bit Darg Garkeny too. Could be useful/interesting though.

One for local rarities, two for national, three for 'megas'?

Sorry, beer has been a good friend recently - I'll tone it down

Also, for a good example of sharing news on a local level, Archie's Midlands blog has a nice google map down the bottom on right-hand side:
