Are these two seperate locations? Are they related in terms of where they are located or what limits there are in terms of allowed space?
For that matter is the blogging section related ti the forum session or are they two seperate entities run by the same people?
So many questions, I know. Sorry.

Hi Dave, all good questions. There are several different places to post photos on Surfbirds. It's all part of the same site though.
1. Galleries. You'll see there are lots of different galleries to post to. These have been around for years and were originally set up for birders to quickly share photos of rarities but have been expanded to include common birds in different geographical regions as well as mammals and insects etc. You need to register for the galleries in order to post and it is a different login from your forum username and password and has a 100kb limit per photo posted:

2. Photo Albums. These are for users to have their own photo albums and you can create as many different albums as you want. Anyone can browse your albums and latest photos posted in any album appear across the top of the forum homepage. Your forum username and password let you login and post photos to your album.

3. Blog Albums. If you have a Surfbirds blog, you will also get a blog album which has 200mb of space to store photos. It is up to you if you want to advertise your blog album for others to see eg add a link to your album on your blog. The blog albums have fewer bells and whistles than #2 above. You'd need to explore #2 to see all the differences but exif data, views and comments all come with #2 but not with the blog albums. One reason for having a blog album is that it makes it easier to post photos to your blog from it. With a couple of clicks you can post a photo from your blog album to your blog whereas posting a photo from #2 or photobucket or some other outside album service does require copying and pasting the url address for each image in to your blog entry.
Lastly, do not worry about space with any of these as they can easily be expanded at no cost to the user.
Hope this helps a bit.

Thank you for your responses. I have gotten into my bird blog pretty heavily. It seems that I am sepending an inordinate amount of time to get everything together. I bet I spend as much time getting everything together as I do actually birding!
