Hi there,
is anybody still out and about in this corner of the forum?
Just wondering... ;)
And since there's no "cafe" corner here, I thought I ask here to see if someone cares to share Tips, Infos or simply Small talk?! ;)
Cheers,
Nicole

Hello Nicole,

I have to agree with you that it might be a good idea if there was a "space" here for "small talk & trivia". However, I would not want to see this forum go the same way as "the other channel" (you might not understand that!) which is nothing more than small talk, trivia and gossip such as who is going to replace Bill Oddie on "Springwatch" :nah::SLEEP::wub::biggrin:

Grin, then scratch the smalltalk part and let's stay with tips and such.

This was mainly pointed in the direction of the people with a camera out there.
I always like to share ideas and tips. :)

P.S.:
I don't know the other forum you are talking about.

It seems we don't have to be afraid that this forum turns into something like that anyway.

Shrug,....

Nicole,

I am always happy to answer any queries on photography or post-processing.

You might consider joining two photography forums: 1. http://www.dpreview.com/ and 2. http://www.fredmiranda.com/ (they are free and all you need is an email address.

I am a member of both and often contribute. I should warn you that DPReview is a "Lion's Den" of aggressive, illiterate, homicidal morons and my main reason for participating is for the entertainment value! FredMiranda is much much more cultured and you will get more rational and helpful responses to your queries. Both forums have sub-forums catering specifically for Nikon owners (there is much animosity between Nikon and Canon!!).

Like most international forums, both of these are heavily dominated by Americans whose understanding and appreciation of European culture and practices is not as good as it should be - there is also the language barrier, despite the fact that N Americans allegedly speak English!!

But, they are both worth a try.

I resigned from Naturescapes.Net because (again run by, and dominated by, Americans) they condone the practice of using "live bait" (usually rodents bought from pet shops) to attract and photograph birds of prey.:realmad:

Shucks about Life bait.....yuck.

Since hubby is American, I got used to Americans being a tad different ;)
Many of my blog buddies are from all over the Globe and it often is weird when it comes to explaining certain things....

I am actually looking for a place where I can learn some real basics together with other people.
I started my own little group, but the network failed on me.
I am working on getting the same gang together on my own forum for that.
You know, some a** kicking to grab a book, do an assignment, share experiences.
Without people thinking that one shouldn't have the camera one has when he/she doesn't know how to properly use it.
But that's another story ;)

I just love to talk, one reason I opened this thread ;)

Thanks for the link though. I knew about DPR. There's another one that's fairly good: DPS Digital Photography School (but I'm not there very often, way too busy).
I'll check out Fredmiranda though.
Sounds good :)

I never got the Nikon / Canon thing. But neither did I get the apple / windows issue.
Shrugs
