I have just received an advance copy of the new 'Birds of the Horn of Africa' field guide, so this is a 'heads up' for it as it looks very good. As one of the illustrators you will probably say you would say that, but artists are often their own worst critics. A number of plates are reproduced from the Birds of East Africa guide, but I think the colours are better in this book.

Anyway, have a look for yourself.

Interesting idea, but (a) who has field experience of birding in that lawless, war-torn area with one of the highest kidnapping rates in the world, and (b) who is going to buy it? All those very rich pirates and kidnappers?? :nah:

Might be the only way to see Somali Lark......joke!

Seriously, the book also includes Ethiopia, Eritrea and Djibouti.
