No, sorry not a Yellow-billed Cuckoo. Birdboy, was your avatar taken at Mt. Bunya by any chance?

Yes, a mangrove cuckoo. Well done. Birdboy, I wanted to say you were so close, but that would have been a dead give away:laugh:

Credit where credit's due - it was Geoff (Morg) who gave the correct answer.
Birdboy's avatar looks more like the carpark at O'Reilly's Guesthouse, Lamington NP, Queensland (see this months Birding World for a nice article on O'Reilly's).
Cheers,
Graham

Hi Graham,
I'm sorry that the way I posted my congrats and well done was confusing. If you'll notice, I did post acknowledement of correct response as an attachment to morg/Geoff's answer. I guess I should have made my comment/question to birdboy as a separate entry. My apologies to all who thought I wasn't giving credit where credit was due (especially you, Geoff, if you felt slighted).
Yeah, could be Lamington--never made it there; but Mt. Bunya also has a parking lot with bird feed available I have pictures of me with King Parrots on my head from that site. I have a feeling there might be a few places in Oz where this happens.:laugh:The Aussie parrots can be fearless. My daughter and I went hiking on an island off the Queensland coast and stopped for an apple and water break. A Rainbow Lorikeet landed on her hand an started eating her apple. Sue

I think that Graham didn't notice the "stop" between "Well done" and "Birdboy" - makes all the difference to the interpretation.

Colin

P.S. Nice photo Sue.

Thanks, Colin. This cuckoo was in a tree at the side of the road in Canouan. He was really close and had no problem with me watching. A really pretty bird. Of the dozens of times I've now seen M. Cuckoos, only one was in a mangrove.;)

Didn't feel slighted in the slightest - I read and understood what you meant to say - and I used Birdboy's guess to get to the right answer:err:
