It's sad when people have to upload pictures of plastic birds as is the case of the below

Mikado Pheasant, , Taiwan May 2009 © Jeff Higgott
Excellent prolonged views of this endemic species out in the open on the TerryTours 2009 Taiwan trip.

So why post a picture of a plastic bird?? for a superb picture of a real bird scroll down a couple to Pete Morris's picture

Cheers

Hi Alan

Knowing Jeff, I feel sure he was just injecting a bit of humour (not sadness) onto the site.

This thread could prove to be an interesting "diversion". How many other members have shots of "artificial" birds?

Here is an Eagle Owl spotted by my wife perched on a boat in the marina at Lagos - it fooled me for an instant:

Thanks Brian - and yes!!

And Alan - I didn't HAVE to post a picture of a plastic bird (well done though for recognising the construction material from the photo!). I could have posted this one:

...though having raised the subject of plastic birds here's a 1 metre high Kirtland's Warbler in a glass case (i.e captive, so you can't tick it) in the high street in Mio, Michigan:

There's a huge wooden Goshawk on every major road entrance into Kielder Forest, but I've never bothered to take a photo!

Electricity sub-stations in West Sussex have fake Eagle Owls on top of them - if spotted from a fast moving train they can be vaguely worrying until you have seen the third.
