Has anyone experienced visual problems using binocs after cataract surgery?

Hi

My dad has had cataracts removed from both of his eyes. He is a very keen birder and has never experienced problems in using bins following surgery. Indeed, having them done has allowed him to enjoy his birding even more.

I would concur with Brian - I know a number of birders who have had double cataract surgery and in each case the improvement in vision using bins and 'scope has been excellent (although apparently it is not immediate and takes a few weeks to "settle").

This topic has also been discussed extensively on photographic forums to which I belong and the consensus is that there is a great improvement in what is seen through a camera view-finder.

Unfortunately, age-related macular degeneration (from which I suffer) is another "ball game" altogether and I have read horror stories about people having laser surgery and physical lens implants which have left them with enormous problems using "assisted optics".
