Minsmere is a fantastic reserve and you won't be disappointed. You would need to travel quite some distance from Ipswich for a guaranteed sighting of Red Kite I'm afraid, I took these photos yesterday in Stokenchurch, Bucks where they are numerous and very easy to see.

Hi Dave J,
Thanks for the info, your photos are convincing, am not sure though, how far is Stokenchurch to Ipswich. Nice comment on Minsmire too. I guess to sight Red Kite there have to be a bonus.
Keep info coming.
Thanks Seedy.

Your nearest breeding birds are probably in west Cambridgeshire or possibly Norfolk, but there are less than 10 pairs and you're unlikely to find the locations publicised yet. You could try a visit to Grafham Water, Paxton Pits or Monks Wood reserves, where kites are often reported, but your views will probably be brief, distant and lucky.
Rockingham Forest in Northants, near Corby, has lots of kites, and you'll probably see some on the way once over the A1.
Stokenchurch is on the M40, west of London, about 3 hours from Ipswich. Anywhere from junction 5 to Oxford on the M40 will produce kites, guaranteed, as they're very common. An excellent place to see them is Watlington, on the B4009 off the M40 (junction 6 I think), where people feed them in their gardens. You can see 30-40 circling low over the rooftops, giving stunning views. Driving between the M40 and Watlington, you could see 50-100 birds without much trouble.

Seedy, if you can get to The Rutland Birdfair (http://www.birdfair.org.uk/) you will see Kites on the way as mafting says and have a great day out, you'll meet some of your fellow countrymen there too.
There are breeding Ospreys there though no doubt you've seen them in The Gambia.

Hi guys, thanks for your info. Will for now visit Minsmire and i will tell you all about it in due cause.
Dave, i have been to Rutland before, i was though unfortunate to see any Red kites. Yes you are right, have seen osprey there and are very common in Gambia during the winter seasons.
Am planing to attend the Birdfair, as its been nine years since i last visited. this this, i will surely keep my eye for the Kites.
Would be my pleasure to meet you all at the fair?
Thanks Seedy.
