Would someone mind explaining the following to me? It was posted as a comment on my blog about why I blog (http://www.surfbirds.com/blog/DDolan1075/11006/Why+I+Blog.html):

One thing you might want to look into changing is the way your RSS feed is served. Right now it's a limited text summary with images stripped out. Most people hate being forced to "click through" to see the whole post, let alone the photos. Web 2.0 is based on push services, not pull, so folks being unable to follow your blog without having to visit the site will be turned off.

Is this something that I have control over or is it something that needs to be dealt with on your own website? Is it something that I want to even deal with?

Hi Dave, the blog feeds currently just feed text and no images. It may change in future versions to include images.

In general, the idea of an RSS feed, is that loyal but busy readers can subscribe to your feed so that they can quickly see if you've updated your blog without having to actually visit your blog. It's useful if they are following many blogs or news websites. They can then get the latest headlines from all these sites in a condensed fashion in an RSS News Reader without having to visit each site in turn. If there's an article in their RSS reader they like the look of or or want to read more about, they then click through to the associated site to read it. If you serve your entire posts in the RSS feed, then there's no incentive to even go to your blog (hence your traffic may actually decrease). Just something to keep in mind.

Thanks, that is what I wanted to know. I agree that I don't necessarily want them to not visit the site. Besides with all of the pictures it would be really slow.

I wanted to tell you how much I appreciate everything that you have done for me. Thanks
