Picture and report are not believed to be beyond any doubt by Birdlife International because of possible confusion with the local subspecies of Slender-billed Crow. The report of the Indonesian Ornithologist Union was on their website, but is not to be found now. (http://kukila2004.wordpress.com/meetings/)
I do hope that they found the crow, but obviously more research is needed.

Which subspecies of the Slender Billed Crow occurs on Peleng Island?
Are there DNA analyzes which confirm Corvus unicolor as distinct species?

Unfortunately I can't answer your questions. However, I found some information here:
http://www.iucnredlist.org/details/146647/0 and the same piece of info on the Birdlife International page (http://www.birdlife.org/datazone/search/species_search.html?action=SpcHTMDetails.asp&sid=5764&m=0)
