Dave Jasper, with the Camp Chiricahua group, saw a BROWN-BACKED SOLITAIRE in Miller Canyon, Huachuca Mountains around noon 7/16/09. The bird was about 1/4 mile above the Spotted Owls. It was photographed and recorded. The bird was seen an hour later by Laurens Halsey.

Photos and a poor quality yet decipherable audio clip were taken on the first day and a large search of the area on the following day turned up no sightings. Not all is lost though, as today (July 18) the bird was located in Ramsey Canyon, a few miles north of the original sighting.

Today, July 19, at 11:30 the subject bird was found again in Ramsey Canyon, repeatedly singing and feeding on some fruiting trees about 150 yards uptrail from the fenced in wetland. Additional photos and audio were obtained.
