Cannot I.D. the bird Michael (but GS Woodpecker cannot be ruled out, though I have never see one perched on a wire), but you have a big spot of dust on your camera sensor.

Well done to michael f for the the first correct answer!
The first time I have ever seen a great spotted on a wire too, i saw it and thought that would be a good mystery blob!

Colin, the dust has been worse on my sensor, this bit has stuck:realmad:
