It's one of the small herons. I think Little Green Heron (Butorides striatus).

I think Mafting is fairly close but I'm not sure so to expand the arguement heres the best pic I've got taken in Hurghada Egypt

Lots of common names (Striated Heron, Little Heron), but I think the Scientific name might be Butorides striata now, and not striatus, after some taxonomic tinkering. Egypt fits too.

that was the picture I went straight to when you put up the Little Green Heron suggestion, I just wasnt sure because on other pics there seems to be a lot of red in the front?

If you do a google image search for Butorides striata you get a lot more that look like your bird, and also showing the variability.

Must admit that I didn't know this form but then googled for 'green heron' (as i thought that was the ball park) and that was the first pic to pop up and it looked like a winner. Got a bit lucky really!

Can't help with the mystery fish...
