Rare Raptor at Sagres
I was in the wright place last week and photographed the first lesser spotted eagle (Aquila pomarina) for portugal

There is no mention of this bird on any of the Portuguese "Raridades" websites, and I have not heard a single murmur via the "grapevine".

It Danny here, I am still getiing my head around the site so the photos will follow shortly. Didn't get to see you this September, spent most of my time at the trig point at the cape. Regards :smile:

Well done Danny - those photos seem fairly conclusive (I think the third one clearly showing the double pale carpal patches is the best).

I have just received SPEA's "Notciário Ornitológica" via email and see that a Lesser-spotted Eagle was observed by several people on 3rd and 4th October (but no photos); is that when you saw it?

Have you sent these photos to the Comité Português de Raridades?

Sagres L.S.Eagle I saw and photographed was the 5th oct 09 at midday yes the rarities have seen pics .i have more images of the bird on my website (vofish) all the best Danny

Great stuff Danny, I have now heard that the Rarities Committee have "taken this on board" - just bloody annoyed that the news did not get out and I did not see the bird (would have been a "lifer" for me).

Too busy painting the house in the past few weeks - done the outside, now "she" has me doing the inside!! :ohdear:
