Digiscoped with Kowa TSN883 and Pentax K20D. Vagrant Bar-tailed Godwit in southern California. Less than annual, so quite a good rarity. If only I can conquer the leg blur...

Hi Andy,
The bill and eye (pity no 'catchlight') are tack sharp, which is most important, and I suspect that a low shutter speed combined with the bird's leg stepping forward is the cause of the blurr. It doesn't really bother me since it imparts a sense of 'motion' to a bird which was obviously walking.
There appears to be considerable depth of field here (judging by the bubbles, etc in the background) - you might try a wider aperture to give a faster shutter speed.
Nice shot.

Thanks, yes a bit of a glint in the eye would help to give it a bit of life.
