  • Friendly Dove

    Hello
I have identified a bird I photographed in Rockingham, Western Australia as a Friendly Dove. I have checked my bird journal program which I use to record my sightings but cannot find the Friendly Dove listed. Is this bird known by any other name. A picture is attached. Thanks.

Friendly Ground-dove Gallicolumba stairi is a South Pacific species confined to island groups inc. Fiji and Samoa. There are a few photos on the web and a good species account here:

Your bird is definitely a Laughing (or Palm) Dove Streptopelia senegalensis
and is a little over exposed resulting in some washing out of the colours.
