Excellent stuff! Great to get an insight into how David works. Thanks for posting.
I'm always interested in papers for plate painting too Brian. I struggled to find a replacement for a type of Schoellershammer paper I was fond of which went out of production. I now use a Hahnemuehle paper which has similar qualities. Always on the look out for something else though.
I got this response from David: I paint on Bristol board, strathmore, 3-ply, regular surface. I chose it way back in the 90s partly because it was cheap and readily available, and it has worked really well for me. I like the surface, it's heavy enough to stand up to lots of water without rippling too much, and it will last.
