Hello, I'm a pistachio farmer in the California Central Valley. I have been using Barn Owls for rhodent control for a few years. Recently a large group of Swallows started building nests on a house we are building on the farm. My first thought was to wash the nests off so we could finish building the house. We have decided to let them stay. Anyone know how long we can expect them to stay?, Greg S
This is the first time I've ever joined an on-line forum, so I'm not entirely sure what to expect.
I'm a keen but by no means expert birder, and I also love travelling the world. So far I've visited 22 countries and my life total is 1380 bird species. I think I like South America best, but I've recently discovered the joys of SE Asia.
I don't drive, due to my impaired eyesight (yes, I'm aware of the irony, a birder who can't see very well!), but I don't let that stop me!
I thought it might be good to chat to some people with similar interests.
Ionly joined today,am looking forward to talking to you all in the near future

I am a new member and found your site/forum through a Google for birding in Brittany in the spring. The entry I read was great, and that's why I decided to join this forum (my first ever!).
I look forward to chatting with others who share my interest in wild birds. I travel a bit and always take my opticals. Alas, my "life list" has many entries yet to be made.
