    Hello Russ.
    Rod /bikerrod here
Just to let you I had a go at that bavarian website quiz.
I was actually surprised as to how well I did. Not a complete numpty,,but still lots to learn.
I found it quite helpfull,,so thanks for the heads up,,appreciated.

    Dear Russ,
I told you in April that I'd had a beetle Note printed; this Spring expert isn't replying to my observations of Weevil species we've got on Thames bank here that I've sent to them - I'm trying to narrow down why that is. Presumably you didn't contact them?

    Dear Russ,
Thanks for your reply/'Spitting Kingfisher';by all means rewrite the observation.Thanks.
I had note about two rare beetles (one found on a 65 bus!)printed in a beetle mag.
  4. Hi Clive

As it stands I think that your note needs to be reworded/rewritten before you try bird magazines again. As it stands it is a little confusing, although as I've said before I think it is an interesting observation. If you wanted I could have a play with what you've written and then send it back to you. I hope this doesn't offend you in any way; I've had many notes and papers published and often getting a good, straightforward piece of writing to the magazine in question is the best first step. Keep it simple as well, because in the letters pages space is at a premium.

There is no 'should' about a magazine accepting an article or letter. Most get a few hundred submissions a month and so they have to be very selective. I certainly wouldn't try phoning them - that's almost guaranteed to annoy a busy editor!

    Dear Russ,
Thanks for advice on Forums - I didn't even know where Say Hello Forum was!I don't seem to need to log in.
Can you advise me on Letters pages of Bird Magazines? I think they should accept this observation - an ornithologist might decide to verify it - but they don't reply(they can't acknowledge all of them).I E-Mailed & wrote, perhaps should phone.
