    Good luck with the learning! One more tip here, fluffy rear ends are not unique to Little Grebes, other grebes have them too. But at this time of year (in winter plumage) they're strongly black-white with no brown tones that Littles have. I've not got a winter plumage pic to post, so here's one in summer instead
    Thanks. I've only ever photographed winter plumaged little grebes myself. They've been on my local patch a lot recent(ish)ly. I rarely came across them last summer (I saw 3 or 4) but this winter I've found myself finding 16 in one go!

    Haven't got them on my 2012 year list yet (Last one on 29th December). Only gc grebe but I'm sure I'll find another one soon.

    I know, I posted it for OWW to compare with Little Grebes ;-)
