    Default Curlew or Whimbrel

    Hi.

    Took some photos of what i think may be Whimbrels.

    Can someone advise. They were taken in Devon, UK

    Wembury Bay, near plymouth. There were 21 individuals there today. Now that you have kindly IDd them as Whimbrel i feel an e-mail to the BTO or suchlike my be a good idea. I certainly haven't heard of that many together before.

    Their precise location is on the rocks alongside the costal path between Wembury Beach and Heybrook bay, not far from the old HMS Cambridge Naval Gunnery School site which is now open to the public and hold both Cirl Bunting and Dartford Warbler. I was lucky to see two stunning Cirl Buntings along there today, not far from the Whimbrel

    The best place for this kind of record is the Devon recorder Steve Waite, email recorder@devonbirds.org.
    Note there have been flocks of over 400 Whimbrel reported recently in Devon (Exminster Marshes RSPB).
