I just got a new digiscoping adapter today that I think is going to work great. My scope is a Pentax 65mm with the big Pentax XW14 eypiece. It gives me 28X. I tried using the poorly designed Pentax screw on adapter but wasn't pleased with the results. The fine threads are really difficult to match on the large eyepiece. The new adapter is a Zhumell universal adapter (Vortex also puts their name on an identical adapter). It had a simple screw on clamp that makes it easy to put on or remove from the eyepiece of the scope. It has screw adjustments in three directions for properly centering a wide variety of point and shoot digital cameras as long as they are not too big. I've seen it sell for $35 to $70 US. I got mine at spottingscopes.com for $35. Beats the heck out of the $400 Zeiss adapter the Pentax rep at the bird festival suggested. I only tried a few shots in the yard but the results are promising. Now I need to s.... the ....py Pentax Optio and get a nice Canon or Nikon with image stabilization. The adapter is large and requires a steady scope and tripod combo. Here's a link to the adapter.
