    Default unusual bird spotted

Hello, I am not what you would call an avid bird spotter but I was fascinated to see a bird on the beach in North Wales yesterday which I cannot identify from my books. It was about the size of a starling, generally brown/grey on its back with the lovliest shade of sand/ yellow on its breast and underside. I also noticed that there was a slight pink on the bird's cheek. The beak was short ( I think) and I got the impression that the neck was short, not extended like a thrush. For most of the time I was watching it's back and I did not notice any dark wing barring, but it seemed that the wings were perhaps one shade lighter than it's rump. It was sitting on rocks close to a large bunch of seaweed and seemed to be watcing in the seaweed. I have never seen anything like it and would love to know what it was. Any ideas please. Roger M
