The pink face and throat, along with the lilac forehead say that it is an Indian Roller.

That bird has no pink face or throat, and is definitely not an Indian Roller. But I do not know what it is.

The photo is very dark and quite deseptive, so I've lightened it up. You can see that the breast and face are pink (well, more lilac to be exact). You can also make out what appears to be the purple plumes across the face of the bird, typical of the race affinis as well as the aquamarine across the forehead (sorry, I put lilac earlier - I meant aquamarine).

Is this the same species? It is what I thought Indian Roller looked like, and does have the colours which you mention (which I still cannot see on your lightened version of the O.P.'s shot on either of my calibrated monitors).

Indian Roller for me, too. See these as illustrations of how exposure and light can make the colour look odd

It is Indian Roller....but it looks like a taxidermists specimen!?

Brian's second linked image looks "kosher"; are the sexes different (not usually in roller species)?
I only picked up on this thread because I have recently seen Indian Roller at "Parque Zoologica de Lagos" where the birds look nothing like the O.P.'s photo (but do look like the link I posted).
After reading Graham's post about the "pink face and throat and lilac forehead" I honestly thought that the O.P. had changed the posted image (it has happened before!!).

Just to make sure there's no confusion, I don't think the photo is Sahar's, I think it's just an example of what the colors were like. Sahar had PMed me earlier in the week with the following "a blackbird looklike an indianroller but it is a black with a blue chest but it sound like a woodpecker". Any ideas? I can't think of anything offhand.
