East of Bridgwater Somerset, UK.
Around mid-day today I looked up from my garden to see a bird of prey being mobbed by a single crow. This is a common site as there are many many buzzards in the West Country. I thought it didn't look right so ran in to get my binos and definately identified it as a Kite. Forked tail and pronounced carpal joints, totally different to a buzzard. I have seen kites in Wales and in the M40 area of the UK.
So..am I more likely to have seen a Red Kite out of territory or a Black Kite on it's move South ?
Whilst the tail was forked it was not as pronounced as I thought it should be for a Red Kite.
Whislt this siting is now history I would appreciate any opinions.
