    Default Eskimo Curlew Conspiracy

    Thought this was interesting reading tonight and would be good to share. I always thought that colour photo in my Audubon book was odd and looked like a museum specimen. I actually assumed it was taken at a museum and surprised when I saw a caption years later claiming it was taken in the wild:
    No one seems to be doubting the record of these multi-observer birds but curious why one of the more famous photos would have been doctored...

    This has been discussed recently
    (scroll down to Killian Mullarney's post), but I wonder if the position of the tail tip is slightly different relative to the belly - trying to allow for the perspective change in the head-on shot.

    Still very interesting.
