On 12 March 2009, a COMMON REDPOLL was observed and photographed at a
thistle sock in a northwest Fresno yard. You can see photos of the
bird at the following link:
Despite close monitoring of the thistle sock and other feeders in the
neighborhood, the bird has not been seen again. If accepted by the
California Bird Records Committee, this would represent the
southernmost record of this species for California.
