Hi guys, i have another image for I.D. help please.
Snapped this from a long way off whilst photographing common terns at frensham ponds in (i think) Surrey. Expected it to be a great crested grebe as there are a number of them on the ponds, but looks totally different. The only thing i can liken it too is northern diver, but it seems the location and time of year are totally wrong.
Another thing (will save me creating another thread for it) Whilst photographing a pair of common terns, i noticed one had a significantly longer beak then the other. Would this be a difference between male and female? It truly was a joy to watch them fish, such elegant birds!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
