Decided to explore the Waveney Valley and bumped into another birder . We walked Flixton Gravel Pits together and counted eight Red Crested Pochard. Later when I got home this other birder emailed me and it said he knew a bird ringer who said that there are over 100 at times. These duck must have been released for shooting and I wonder if these other Suffolk RCP's eminate from this place.
A word of warning, as we walked back to our cars we were "attacked" by a large dog, we were on the footpath but as we wrongly started walking up the track towards a lodge the owner made threats
The footpath is accessable from the B road and not the Lodge access road.
My question now is is it illegal to release free flying non native duck for shooting?
There were over 2000 Mallard there too
