I now have confirmation of this bird (which I mentioned in another thread). It is a 1st winter and was found by Simon Wates on private land at Figueira on the coast just south of Budens in the Concelho (municipality) of Vila do Bispo.
I told my mate Roger about it and he contacted Simon this morning who he picked up and took him there - the bird was observed in this private garden for about two hours and was reasonably confiding. It has been present now for at least three days at the same locality.
The owners have given me permission to access their land and I will go tomorrow if I have recovered from this dreadful flu bug to try and get some photos.
As far as I can ascertain, this is the seventh record for Portugal (will be a lifer for me).
