My husband and I have been birding seriously since we moved to Texas 17 years ago. We're originally out of the UK.
We have some fantastic birding hotspots here in Texas, like High Island, Bolivar Flats Shorebird Sanctuary and many great State Parks and National Wildlife Refuges. In fact, I've recently added a section to my website on the Birding Regions of Texas, but have a long way to go to even finish the first 2 sections!
We've recently returned from a 6 week trip to Australia, seeing many fantastic life birds - lots of work to get them logged into my AviSys lifelist and of course there are the 1,000's of photos we took between the pair of us! Will post a few in the Gallery after Christmas, when all the visitors have gone home
I've been keeping sighting records of the hummingbirds which come to my feeders for the Texas Parks and Wildlife's Hummingbird Roundup for about 8 years and a hummingbird bander comes to my house every winter to band or recapture returnees. Below is a photo of a male Rufous Hummingbird (in molt) in the bander's hand. This was the second winter he spent in my garden.
Season's Greetings to y'all wherever you live.
