Over the last 27 years, between October and March, in my 'overwatched' garden(N.E.London), I generally get on average between c4-5 Goldcrest sightings. In 2009/10 I've had none! Thus, I have ventured into the adjacent woodland where I can always find this species in the many holly bushes that positively flourish in the immediate area. I have drawn a blank on every visit!...However I've made 4 contacts with at least 3 different Firecrest locally, plus making contact with 6 different birds during Oct/Jan at Margate and Ramsgate...and no Goldcrest! Has anybody else in the S.E. noticed a reduced incidence of Regulus regulus?
