After much deliberation, discussion on threads on here and elsewhere i have taken the plunge and bought some proper camera gear. I am now the proud owner of a Canon 50d and a Sigma 120-400 lens (sorry Colin, i just couldnt stretch to a canon lens ), along with a canon 50mm 1.8 for everyday photography. I would like to say thanks to everyone that gave advice on the thread that i started, and i am looking forward to loads of photography in the coming months!
Here are some shots i took earlier today that i would just like to share. Sorry most are on a feeder, not my favorite way to take bird shots, but its an easy way to learn the fundamentals i feel. One thing i am finding tricky is how shallow the depth of field is on a big tele lens like this, on my old bridge camera if you focused on a twig 2" in front of the subject it didn't matter and now it does! but i am enjoying getting used to it and playing around!
P.s the images look best viewed full size, if you click on them to view, then again to view them on a full page, then again to view at full size.
