I'm scratching around Europe to see the last few mainland European breeding species I've never caught up with (in 54 years of birding and counting...). Besides a few recent warbler splits, etc., I think I'm pretty much down to Tengmalm's Owl and Rock Partridge - been to the ranges of each of these on several occasions, but not caught up with them!
I'm intending visiting relatives in Romont (West-central Switzerland, near Fribourg) in May/June. I see that 'Sacchi, Ruegg & Laesser' suggest that RP might be on the (?south slopes of the) Nunenenflue, near Gurnigel - where I have been, but in deep snow in October. This is about 50 minutes drive from Romont.
Anyone have any ideas on finding this species anywhere in that general area, at that time of year??
(I see that Tengmalm's is actually mentioned for that area too! - but I guess my chances of contacting one are next to zero!)
Any help very gratefully received!
