In Surrey today two female Wheatears were at my local patch. One definitely had stronger facial markings than the other, I don't know whether this means anything or not because I can find relatively limited information on identifying female Greenlands in the field. I thought the underparts were rather buff and the upperparts browner than other Wheatears but I'm really not sure.
Size was difficult to judge because the birds were never right next to each other.
Opinions and reaons are very welcome, I need practise with this race.
The photos 1-4 are the bird with the stronger facial markings.
Thanks very much
