Starting afresh on the Afrotropical vagrancy thread (was House Finches...) Si Mahood emailed me reminding me of the Finnish Jacobin Cuckoo record:
Saturday September 11th 1976
Jacobin Cuckoo, Clamator jacobinus
Category D, 1 at Rannakylä, the 1st record for Finland.
(source: The Finnish National Rarities Committee)
This species is also an intratropical African migrant, but genuine vagrancy to Europe would more likely relate to the Afro-Indian migrant pica race. Anyone know anything more about this record? Is the species known in captivity? At face value it seems a good candidate...
