Attached a couple of shots of a gull found chilling out on Dogsthorpe Tip (Cambs) this morning. Initially I saw the head only, and you can probably see why, based on this alone, I presumed I was on to a cachinnans. Then it had the decency to walk out of the large festering mess of Herring Gulls it was hiding in. And this is what it looked like!
So, aberrant Herring Gull, or hybrid Caspian x Herring? Any ideas?
Also juv michahellis attached; these things are so smart currently. First juv Herrings now starting to appear.
