Smile Bird ID - Sparrow in Greece

    Hi folks:

Glad my pathetic images are entertaining you in a humorous way! This photo is actually not too bad; it looks to me like a female House Sparrow but I've heard there are various subspecies (eg., Spanish etc) and so I thought I'd check in case I am wrong. It was on some large rocks in Delphi, Greece in August several years ago.

    Thanks again,

Fairly safe to assume female / juvenile House Sparrow, based as much as anything on the habitat.

Spanish Sparrow is a separate species, though the females are near-impossible to distinguish from House Sparrows. But they occur in much more vegetated rural habitats, typically riverside willows and similar.
