Default Gallitos de las Rocas Bus Crash

    Hi there

Anyone who has done Manu Road on a budget will know the Gallitos de las Rocas bus from Cusco to Paucartambo and on down the Manu Road.

Unfortunately, in June the bus went off the road into a ravine killing five and injuring 40, near Paucartambo. As anyone who has ever been on the bus will testify, it is only a matter of time until the next accident. It's a white knuckle ride to say the least and something to consider if you are venturing to Peru in the near future. It is, however, the only really cheap way in there by road and probably safer than hitching on a truck, which seem to go off the road with greater frequency. It's an awesome journey though!

The accident was probably caused by mechanical failure. Again, not really surprising.

Have not been on it but heard about it from many birders. Assume no birders on it this time...
