Where should I go?
For my birthday, I received enough frequent flyer miles to go just about anywhere in the world. I have plenty of time, but a tight budget. I'm looking for suggestions. Where would you go if you could go anywhere but had to watch your expenses?

SE Asia would be my first answer. Excellent birding, seriously cheap accommodation and food. Can fly to KL for next to nothing now and then use Air Asia to get further for, again, basically nothing! Thailand - amazing place, Borneo - wow!, mainland Malaysia - some awesome sites, Vietnam.....even getting into Indonesia is cheap from KL......blimey the list goes on!!

Lower Rio Grande Valley? Have never been birding abroad yet, but this seems really good, I spoke to some people at the birdfair, after 15 mintes talking to them I really want to go. Maybe ok for a tight budget??

Ecuador on a tight budget Colin....??? Hmmmmmm, maybe as long as you don't go near any good birding areas!!

Can you get a Round-the-World ticket? That's what I'd do for maximum species - stop at a few major cities. They all have hostels, and as noted the Asian ones are cheap anyway, and most have decent birding areas within them or within easy reach.
