Exclamation Potential threat to Snettisham and the wash

Anyone have any views on this? Found about this last week.

    "Threat to Snettisham RSPB Reserve"

"The Council are planning to build a waste incinerator at Saddlebow, King’s Lynn. Snettisham Reserve will be in the Drop Zone as will a large part of The Wash. We are very concerned about the potential release of pollutants (dioxins and heavy metals in particular) into such a sensitive ecosystem, once in the soil and food chain they will be there for a very long time and the implications for wildlife are worrying. Dioxins are known carcinogens and also cause foetal abnormalities, and the effects of heavy metals are well known. A plant in the Isle of Wight recently had to be shut down for exceeding dioxin limits, it is not known how long this had been happening.

The Council have already bought the land and are currently selecting a bidder. So far they have mislead the public as to the true scale and cost of the scheme (it looks like being 500 million paid for by us under a PFI loan).

We need to act very quickly if we are to have a chance of stopping this scheme."
