Six months ago, in June, a birdwatcher active on the island called Utlängan in SE Sweden, shot a video that he recently scanned through. However unlikely, he find himself to have filmed the first Grey-necked Bunting for the country. Some stills here:
In some of the photos it seems like there's a moult contrast in the greater coverts. Perhaps not 100% certain, but since buchanani (unlike hortulana) has no partial winter moult, a moult contrast is highly relevant for the ageing of the bird, and would make this a definite 2cy. Any comments? Do you believe this bird shows a moult contrast?
And what about sex? Sexes are quite similar in buchanani. But if this really is a 2cy bird, perhaps it's unrealistic that a female could be this male-like? Any comments?
