As Xmas and the new year is upon us, I was wondering what might be my bird of the year. It is a hard one to call: in the UK it might have to be either the Isabelline Wheatear at Lowestoft or the Lesser Kestrel at Minsmere - though I did enjoy the Alder Flycatcher on Blakeney Point a great deal; in Europe, Wallcreeper visiting a nest in Switzerland or Pied Wheatears and Pallid Harrier in Bulgaria; in India, maybe Malabar Pied Hornbills. Birding in Sicily with Andrea Corso was great fun, also, and I enjoyed the Sicilian Long-tailed Tit quite a lot....
I guess that actually it has to be the Isabelline Wheatear found by Rob Wilton at Lowestoft that gave me as much pleasure as anyone should get from watching a bird!
Anybody else care to share their birds of 2010?
