Louisiana Bayou Bird ???
The attached film still is from a 1948 move called "The Louisiana Story."
I'm trying to identify the bird.
The closest I can come is a Reddish Egret, but the bird in the film has a white-ish belly whereas the Reddish Egret pictures online have a mostly reddish or black belly.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

The bird in the film has a plumage hairdo, which drew me to him for artistic reasons.

The Tri-Colored Herons do fit the film bird's color scheme except they appear to have a yellow beak whereas the film bird appears to have a black beak, although this may just be a black and white film artifact.
I did find a photo of young Tri-Color with the plumage, so maybe the film bird is a juvenile.
Is plumage a juvenile attribute? Why do some birds have plumage, others not?
