I took this today near Newport, Isle of Wight.
My mate and I had been out all day searching for raptors,,kestrals and buzzards.
I have many pictures of buzzards and kestrals but this one does not match anything I have on record.
This has a very pale front
Two black patches on its face and the eye looks like it is ringed ,,like a kestral.
There does'nt seem to much yellow on the beak either as all my other buzzard pictures seem to show.
In fact when I saw the picture first time I thought it was a kestral,,however we both agreed that this bird was most definitely buzzard size when we spotted it and we both agreed it could not possibly be a kestral.
My mate thinks it is a young buzzard but the collins book disagrees with that statement.
I have'nt the faintest idea so I hope you can help on this one.

Common Buzzard. They are very variable in lightness, from very dark brown to nearly white; this one is toward the pale end, but far from the palest I've ever seen.
