I am new to Surfbirds, but excited with the potential of such an intersection of people and birding...hopefully this first post won't disappoint. In any case, I am fresh out of college and staging a trip to Colombia.
I will be traveling around and north of Bogota for the next two months and the smile on my face could not be any brighter. I have my dslr and binoculars in tow and I am looking for as many birding and/or conservation opportunities as possible. Just kind of poking around to see what might turn up during a two month run from Bogota, up to Tayrona Nat. Park, west to Taganga, Barranquilla (Carnival) and finally Cartagena before finally making our way back towards Bogota (I will be traveling with one other, a soil science fellow that also digs the birds).
Although I am sure we will stumble upon a fair bit of great and cheap birding, I am wondering if anyone out there is familiar with the areas I will be traveling near and might be interested in throwing out a few ideas of places to check out and spend awhile hiking around with birds in mind.
Thanks for all your help in advance. Birds the Word,
